BELLA & THE BEAR
Bella and the Bear continue to captivate audiences across the country with their live show; setting spoken word and musical intricacies to the backdrop of folk fairy tales. Within a year, they have won 2015’s Calmac Culture award, been named Best Newcomer at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards and been the recipient of a Danny Kyle award at this year’s Celtic Connections.
Comprised of Lauren Gilmour and Castle Douglas local Stuart Ramage,
Bella and the Bear were formed last year after the two met at University in Ayr. They have recorded and released two EPs and produced their own short film entitled ‘A Girl Called Bella’. The film was directed by BAFTA New Talent winner Iain Henderson and was previewed to a sold out audience in Glasgow’s CCA at their launch show at the end of 2015.
"Loaded with nothing short of exquisite lyricism, soaring melodies and water tight musicianship."
"Bella and the Bear have entered the music world and become irreplaceable in the Scottish scene."
"With spoken word that’s so sharp and observant, it lifts the songs to another realm entirely."
